Islam, religion, immortality and unity, the holy Quran and the secret of solidarity among Islamic nations, the role of the great prophet of Islam (pbuh) and his infallible household (AS) in unity and solidarity, and the role of the only savior of mankind, Imam Zaman (may God hasten his advent), were among the topics discussed in the conference. The conference, which was attended by 30 Iranian and foreign Muslim scholars, was held by the religous department of Payam-e-nour University in line with the supreme leader's directions.

Nationwide Quran Competition for IRGC Female Staff to Open Saturday

The opening ceremony of the competition opens in Al-Ghadeer cultural complex of the ground forces of IRGC and will run through Monday February 23. The competition will include different categories such as memorization of the whole Quran , memorization of 20 sections, 15 sections, 10 sections, 5 sections and 3 sections as well as different recitation styles such as Tahghigh and Tarteel.The preliminary stages of the competition were held in October through December of 2008 with participation of 3000 IRGC personnel. The male section of the competition will be held on March 10. “Quran and Human Rights“ Seminar Held in Morocco

According to Al-Tajdid newspaper, the seminar will be held within the framework of the programs planned for the Islamic cultural week in Rabat aimed at clarifying Quran’s viewpoints on human rights and comparing it with international rules and regulations. The Islamic cultural week of the city started Sunday by the scientific council of Morocco under the supervision of king of Morocco. It will include speeches on “human rights; between two extremes, human rights; its sources and objectives, human rights through prophetic guidance” and “ human rights in religious sources. Holding a meeting on “Women’s rights in Islam, its principles and objectives” and Quranic sessions attended by top Quran reciters of the country as well as literary and cultural meetings with the presence of poets are among other programs for the cultural week.

The city of Maku’s Office of Culture and Islamic Guidance is to hold a Quranic gathering in Igdir, Turkey. According to IQNA’s branch in western Azerbaijan, the meeting will be held in cooperation with Khatam-ol-Anbiya Quranic Center of Maku on the auspicious occasion of birth anniversary of Imam Ali (AS).Aimed at boosting unity between Muslims of Iran and Turkey, the one day meeting will be attended by a number of top Quran teachers and reciters. It will include various programs such as Quran recitation, commentary, public recitation, and religious songs (Tawasheeh).

More than 34 New Quran Institutes to Be Constructed in Syria

Syria’s Endowment minister said that the ministry plans top construct 34 new centers for Quran memorization in Aleppo this year. According to SANA news agency, addressing a meeting, Mohammad Abdul Sattar al-Sayyed said that setting up a center for religious moderation, an international center for religious sciences and a center for training missionaries were among other projects planned by the ministry for the year 2009. During a meeting with Syrian female missionaries, the minister also stressed the significance of women’s role in Islamic society and their active participation along with men in society’s affairs. He also stressed the great role preachers can play in introducing the reality of Islam to society based on moderation and justice. Mr. al-Sayyed added that his ministry is always looking for good relations with the scholars and preachers in order to promote their role in society. Organizing more than 51 editions of the international Quran recital assembly proves Malaysian government’s keen interest in conducting religious and Quranic events for the benefit of Muslims, director general of Jakim (Department for Islamic Development of Malaysia) said. According to Tilawah news, he said that there have been improvements in holding the competition in terms of organization, number of participants and the quality of recitations from year to year. He also referred to the role of Jakim in successful publication of Tafsir Hedayah Al-Rahman, which started in 1968 by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohd Basmeih and edited by a Mufti of Kelantan government and a Mufti of Federal Territory. He added that Jakim is taking yet another step forward by publishing Tafsir Al-Rahman in Mandarin and Tamil versions which are expected to be completed by next year.
